Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has begun discussions with the Bar for the creation of a Standardized National E-Filing Framework, aimed at forming a cohesive electronic filing system throughout the country’s judicial hierarchy. The initiative was launched during a high-level meeting at the Supreme Court, chaired by the Chief Justice of Pakistan in his role as Chairman of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting included key figures such as Pir Muhammad Masood Chishti, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, and Haroon Rasheed, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, along with other representatives from regional Bar Councils and senior court officials. The consultation is intended to incorporate the Bar’s input from the start, given their significant role as primary users of the filing system.

The proposed e-Filing system aims to build on the Supreme Court’s existing framework, extending benefits across all levels of the judiciary by establishing uniform national standards and an integrated case-filing process. Once a consensus is reached among stakeholders, the framework will be presented to the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee for policy directions.

Bar representatives have expressed support for the initiative, highlighting that standardization would simplify filing processes and improve case tracking. A committee, including members from Bar Councils and court officials, will work on finalizing e-filing templates, with further discussions scheduled for later this month.

The Chief Justice emphasized the importance of the Bar’s involvement, noting it as crucial for developing a user-focused and effective e-filing system. This initiative is part of a larger judicial reform effort to enhance accessibility and efficiency in the justice system through technological integration.
