President and Prime Minister of Pakistan Call for Mental Health Awareness


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have called on citizens to foster an open dialogue about mental health, emphasizing the importance of treating mental health conditions with the same urgency and acceptance as physical ailments.



According to Radio Pakistan, both leaders delivered separate messages on World Mental Health Day, urging the nation to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health discussions. President Zardari encouraged stakeholders to move from awareness to tangible actions by actively engaging with individuals who have firsthand experience with mental health issues.



Prime Minister Sharif highlighted governmental efforts to incorporate mental health services into primary healthcare, educational settings, and community platforms. This initiative aims to make mental health resources more accessible and integrated into everyday life, reflecting a commitment to addressing mental health challenges at multiple societal levels.
