Finance Minister Hosts Dutch Business Delegation to Strengthen Economic Ties


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened a luncheon to welcome a Dutch business delegation led by the Founders Carbon Network (FCN), accompanied by Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Robert-Jan Siegert, and key Pakistani officials. The event aimed at highlighting investment opportunities and fostering stronger economic partnerships between Pakistan and the Netherlands.



According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister underscored the importance of strengthening business-to-business linkages for enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. He highlighted Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic outlook and stressed the need for investment, capital formation, and export expansion as drivers of the country’s economic development. The Minister outlined government priorities, including sustaining macroeconomic stability, transitioning towards growth, and broadening access to finance for various sectors.



Senator Aurangzeb noted Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves reaching a historic high, emphasizing the need for resilience against external shocks to reinforce investor confidence. He also identified rapid population growth and climate change as significant challenges, stressing the importance of coordinated reforms to address these issues.



The meeting also explored opportunities for Dutch expertise and investment in Pakistan’s development priorities. Public-private partnerships were identified as crucial for translating investment interest into viable projects. The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing private-sector participation, while the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan focused on maintaining macroeconomic stability and facilitating trade.



Members of the Dutch delegation discussed Pakistan’s business environment and prospects for expanded cooperation, emphasizing the potential for strengthening business engagements and forming partnerships. The discussions highlighted a shared interest in leveraging closer business ties for investment, trade, and long-term economic growth, alongside a commitment to providing a conducive environment for international investors in Pakistan.
