New York: Pakistan has called for an immediate de-escalation of the Ukraine conflict at the United Nations, urging the involved parties to respect international law and seek peaceful resolutions.
According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, the Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, emphasized the need for both sides to exercise restraint and recommit to dialogue. Ambassador Jadoon highlighted the importance of an early and lasting end to hostilities, noting that military solutions cannot deliver enduring peace.
He expressed particular concern over attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea, warning that the expanding conflict poses serious risks to regional stability and the broader neighborhood. Ambassador Jadoon cautioned that continued hostilities would deepen divisions, prolong human suffering, and reduce prospects for a sustainable settlement.
The ambassador underscored that diplomacy and dialogue remain the most viable path towards achieving peace, advocating for a recommitment to these principles in the pursuit of resolving the conflict.
