ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has publicly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership for what he describes as governance failures and a worsening law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past thirteen years. During a news conference in Islamabad, Tarar, alongside Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan and MPA Jalal Khan, accused the provincial government of failing to utilize allocated funds effectively to bolster security and development in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had once been a peaceful region, but under the current government, it has regressed, depriving its citizens of essential services and growth opportunities. He highlighted the allocation of seven hundred billion rupees under the NFC Award for counter-terrorism efforts, which he claimed was not used to strengthen security institutions such as the Counter-Terrorism Department and police force. Additionally, he noted the absence of safe-city cameras in the tribal districts.
Coordinator to the Prime Minister, Ikhtiar Wali, echoed these criticisms, pointing to a rise in corruption and the misuse of public funds for political purposes. He further criticized the provincial government’s failure to establish educational institutions or improve basic civic amenities, noting that the healthcare system remains inadequate and that police lack modern equipment to combat terrorism.
Jalal Khan, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, joined the criticism, asserting that PTI’s leadership has not taken effective measures to counter terrorism in the province. He described the ruling group as anarchic and expressed determination to address corruption and administrative failures, aiming to improve the situation for the province’s citizens.
