Islamabad: Pakistan and Belarus have pledged to enhance industrial collaboration and technology transfer, with a focus on boosting cooperation between small and medium enterprises. This commitment was solidified during the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions led to an agreement to form a Joint Feasibility Study Group, tasked with evaluating the potential for a Bilateral Trade Agreement on Services. Pakistan also expressed a willingness to facilitate the deployment of its workforce to Belarus through an agreed-upon mechanism, aiming to benefit both economies.

Further agreements were made to conduct online B2B sessions in sectors such as seafood, fruits, vegetables, seeds, and dairy products. Both nations committed to increasing participation in agricultural exhibitions and food fairs, and to organizing reciprocal business delegations to encourage partnerships and investment.

In science and technology, Pakistan proposed working towards a Mutual Recognition Agreement under an existing Memorandum of Understanding with Belarus. Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the importance of the Joint Ministerial Commission as a platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation. Belarusian Minister of Energy Dzianis Maroz expressed readiness to support expanding partnerships and developing new initiatives to enhance bilateral relations.
