Karachi: A recent survey by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that 33% of adult Pakistanis believe that reducing prices would be the most effective way to increase the use of bikes and scooties among women. The survey highlights that lower costs are the leading factor cited by participants, followed by the need for safer roads and greater awareness of bike usage.
According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the survey asked a nationally representative sample of adults across the country what would help most in increasing women’s use of bikes and scooties. In addition to the 33% who pointed to lower prices, 22% of respondents mentioned the necessity of safer roads, while 18% emphasized the importance of raising awareness about bike usage. Seven percent believed that seeing more women riders would help, and a small fraction of respondents cited other factors or were uncertain.
The survey results underscore the importance of affordability as a primary consideration for enhancing women’s mobility via bikes and scooties in Pakistan. The findings suggest that while safety and education are also significant, cost remains the most critical barrier to increasing usage among women.
