DPM Directs Formulation of Strategy to Curb Gas Losses


ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed the relevant authorities to develop a focused and time-bound strategy to reduce the Unaccounted-for Gas losses affecting the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited. These directives were issued during a high-level committee meeting chaired by Dar in Islamabad, addressing the increasing gas losses.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of implementing strict protocols to safeguard public resources and enhance public facilitation. He highlighted the critical need for ensuring energy security in Balochistan, alongside restoring the operational and financial viability of the Sui Southern Gas Company.



The committee received a briefing on the significant operational challenges, financial ramifications, and increasing distribution losses impacting the company’s network. The meeting evaluated strategic measures to address illegal connections, upgrade pipeline infrastructure, enhance revenue collection, and ensure a stable gas supply for legitimate consumers.
