ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level committee meeting to address the escalating issue of Unaccounted-for Gas (UFG) losses at the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
According to Press Information Department, the committee was briefed on the operational challenges, financial impacts, and increasing distribution losses that are affecting SSGCL’s network. The meeting focused on strategic measures to curb illegal connections, upgrade pipeline infrastructure, improve revenue collection, and stabilize gas supply for legitimate consumers.
Senator Dar emphasized the importance of ensuring energy security in Balochistan while restoring the operational and financial sustainability of SSGCL. He instructed the relevant authorities to develop a targeted and time-bound strategy to reduce UFG losses, enforce strict protocols, protect public resources, and ensure public facilitation.
The meeting was attended by Khalid Hussain Magsi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology; Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum; Rana Mubashar Iqbal, Federal Minister for Public Affairs Unit; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; Secretary Interior; Secretary Petroleum; Chief Secretary Balochistan, and senior officials from the Ministries of Energy and Foreign Affairs.
