ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and British High Commissioner to Pakistan Ms. Jane Marriott met in Islamabad to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral trade and investment, with a focus on increasing the involvement of UK businesses in Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister outlined the Government’s six key priorities, which include ensuring macroeconomic stability, transitioning to sustainable and inclusive growth, and maintaining a commitment to structural reforms. He emphasized the shift from aid to trade and investment, expanding access to finance, and positioning Pakistan for the New Economy. The Finance Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the business environment to attract both domestic and foreign investment.
The British High Commissioner discussed the potential contributions of UK companies and diaspora networks to Pakistan’s private sector development. She focused on supporting the growth and internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, both parties exchanged views on opportunities within the aviation sector, including prospects for international financing and investment.
