Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, met with the EU Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, to discuss Pakistan-EU relations, GSP+ status, and human rights priorities. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights, also covered other matters of mutual interest.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions included the implementation of the National Action Plan on Human Rights 2026, measures to enhance the functioning of human rights institutions, and government actions concerning child rights and protection. The EU Ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s progress in meeting its human rights commitments.

The Federal Minister emphasized the importance of GSP+ status for Pakistan, stating it as an opportunity to promote human rights and democratic values. He highlighted improvements in child labour, child marriage, and minority rights, noting the activation of the National Commission for Minorities to strengthen minority rights protection.

Senator Tarar reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing gaps in human rights protection through legal and institutional reforms. Both parties agreed on the significance of Pakistan-EU cooperation to advance human rights and democratic values, emphasizing the need for strengthened mutual engagement.
