Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif extended his warmest congratulations to Pakistanis worldwide on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day. In a message commemorating the day, he highlighted the historical significance of the nation’s struggle for freedom and the continued importance of unity and progress.
According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the leaders of the Pakistan Movement, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, acknowledging their roles in securing an independent homeland. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by the forefathers and the collective efforts of the people were instrumental in the nation’s creation.
Sharif lauded the achievements of Pakistanis in various sectors, from national defense and the economy to education and technology. He highlighted the increase in remittances by $11.3 billion as a sign of confidence in government policies. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering economic development, advancing public welfare projects, and enhancing educational systems.
The message also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to defending its national interests and its role in promoting regional peace. The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye was cited as a testament to Pakistan’s strategic strength.
Sharif expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, calling for a diplomatic resolution of the Kashmir issue in alignment with United Nations resolutions. He concluded his message with a call for national unity and collaboration across all sectors of society, aiming for the country’s continued success and progress on the global stage.
