Islamabad: In a strategic crackdown against crime, Islamabad Police have arrested 88 suspects involved in serious offenses, including theft and robbery. The Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) have collectively recovered stolen property and vehicles worth over Rs. 161 million, according to a press conference held by SSP Investigations Suleman Zafar at Police Lines Headquarters.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operations are part of a directive issued by Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Captain (R) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry. During the press conference, SSP Zafar, along with DSP CIA Salman Shah and Inspector Mian Noorullah, detailed the arrests and recoveries. The RDU apprehended 61 suspects, including members of eight gangs, recovering property worth Rs. 72.915 million. Recovered items included mobile phones, laptops, vehicles, gold, and cash.

In kidnapping for ransom cases, nine gang members were detained, with victims safely recovered. The police retrieved a Honda Civic, 18 mobile phones, and other valuables worth Rs. 10.5 million. Additionally, 16 members of four robbery gangs were captured, resulting in the recovery of items valued at Rs. 16.065 million. Arrests in ordinary theft cases led to recovering stolen gold, cash, and electronics worth Rs. 46.24 million.

The AVLU’s efforts led to the arrest of 27 suspects from 11 gangs involved in vehicle theft. The police recovered 35 cars and 21 motorcycles valued at Rs. 88.245 million. The gang members utilized master keys to facilitate thefts, transporting vehicles to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamabad Police employed advanced resources such as Safe City surveillance and informants to capture the suspects.

SSP Zafar emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property, highlighting the importance of returning stolen vehicles and property to their owners. The operation underscores the department’s dedication to combating crime and providing relief to the public.
