Islamabad: Pakistan Customs and Hong Kong Customs have entered into a new Cooperative Arrangement to enhance collaboration and mutual assistance in customs operations, following a virtual signing ceremony held at the Federal Board of Revenue headquarters in Islamabad.

According to Press Information Department, the arrangement offers a structured framework for the customs administrations of both regions to exchange information and intelligence, monitor suspicious consignments and individuals, and assist each other in enforcing customs laws. This initiative aligns with international customs cooperation standards set by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Hong Kong to strengthen customs enforcement and secure international trade.

Syed Shakeel Shah, Member Customs (Operations) at the Federal Board of Revenue, presided over the ceremony and expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong Customs representatives. He highlighted that the enhanced cooperation would foster a long-term institutional relationship and help address emerging customs challenges, ultimately contributing to optimal revenue collection and effective trade facilitation. Shah assured continued support from Pakistan Customs in all areas of mutual assistance.

The ceremony concluded with the exchange of signed documents between the Head of Hong Kong Customs and the Consul General of Pakistan in Hong Kong, marking an important milestone in bilateral customs cooperation.
