Deputy Prime Minister Commends Catholic Community’s Role in Pakistan

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has recognized the contributions of Pakistan’s Catholic community, particularly in the fields of education and health. This acknowledgement came during a meeting with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, who visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Archbishop Gallagher’s visit marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Holy See. The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the Archbishop and praised the Holy See’s efforts in fostering peace, interfaith harmony, and dialogue.

During their discussions, Ishaq Dar appreciated Pope Leo XIV’s calls for peace and a resolution to the Palestine conflict, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people. Both parties committed to enhancing relations between Pakistan and the Holy See, emphasizing mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among different faiths.

They also expressed concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region and stressed the need for continued international efforts to promote peace. Archbishop Gallagher lauded Pakistan’s efforts in advancing regional peace and stability through diplomatic initiatives.
