President and Prime Minister Extend Independence Day Greetings, Highlight National Achievements

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have conveyed their felicitations to the nation on Independence Day, urging citizens to contribute to Pakistan’s development in their respective fields. The leaders emphasized the significance of the day in their messages, calling for national unity and progress.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari reflected on the sacrifices that led to the establishment of Pakistan, paying homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the leaders of the Pakistan Movement. He highlighted the ongoing responsibility that independence entails, noting the resilience demonstrated by the nation during the events of Marka-e-Haq.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed optimism about Pakistan’s journey towards prosperity, highlighting the country’s economic stability achieved despite challenges. He noted the increase in remittances by $11.3 billion over the past two years as a sign of trust in government policies. He praised the armed forces, referencing their role in Marka-e-Haq and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which underscores Pakistan’s strategic role in promoting regional stability.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolution of regional disputes. Dar highlighted the significance of the Makkah Accord with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in enhancing strategic cooperation and collective security.

The leaders collectively called for unity among all segments of society and political parties to safeguard national interests and advance national integrity.
