Ottawa: The High Commission for Pakistan in Ottawa, along with the three Consulates General in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, marked the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan and the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah with various events and ceremonies.

According to Press Information Department, the celebrations included a Flag Hoisting ceremony at the Chancery premises in Ottawa, where special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read. The events highlighted the vision of Jinnah and the unity of the Pakistani nation.

The commemorations also featured a documentary on Jinnah’s life and leadership, as well as a digital photographic exhibition showcasing key historical moments. High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem conveyed congratulations on the Independence Day and paid tribute to Jinnah’s legacy, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan. He noted the significant role of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada in enhancing bilateral ties.

The event witnessed a large turnout from the Pakistani community and friends of Pakistan in the Greater Ottawa Area. The participation of families and youth was notable, with attendees paying tribute to the sacrifices of the armed forces and the people of Pakistan. The celebrations served as a reminder of Jinnah’s principles and vision, inspiring younger generations toward national aspirations.
