Pakistan President Pays Tribute on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, Urges International Action

Islamabad: Pakistan’s President marked the 95th Kashmir Martyrs’ Day by paying tribute to the 22 martyrs who lost their lives in 1931 under the Dogra forces’ firing. He emphasized the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris against what he terms as India’s illegal occupation.

According to Press Information Department, the President highlighted that over 900,000 Indian forces continue to maintain control in Jammu and Kashmir, a situation he claims perpetuates the occupation. He criticized India’s actions on August 5, 2019, which he described as attempts to alter the demographic identity of the region and noted the cessation of traditional commemorations such as the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day public holiday and Guard of Honour ceremony.

The President called for India to halt repression in the region, release political prisoners, and respect human rights. Additionally, he urged the international community to facilitate a peaceful resolution in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination.
