KARACHI: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, stressed the importance of cooperation from the construction sector for the city’s development during a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), led by Chairman Hassan Bakhshi. Key topics of discussion included ongoing development projects, urban infrastructure, and potential collaboration between the public and private sectors.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab highlighted the construction industry’s significant role in the national economy, noting its capacity to provide employment to millions. He affirmed that the Government of Sindh, alongside the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, is committed to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and civic amenities, aiming to transform Karachi into a modern metropolis.
The Mayor also discussed the intention to modernize informal settlements, emphasizing the necessity of ABAD’s cooperation to achieve this goal. He expressed optimism about the potential for collaborative efforts to improve housing and basic services for citizens. Addressing traffic congestion, Mayor Wahab announced initiatives such as establishing modern parking plazas, which are under consideration to alleviate congestion and parking issues. The ABAD delegation expressed support for KMC’s initiatives and pledged full cooperation in the city’s development efforts.
