Karachi Mayor Inaugurates Water Pumping Station to Serve Old City Area

Karachi: In a move aimed at addressing long-standing water supply issues, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has inaugurated the Mir Muhammad Baloch Water Pumping Station, fulfilling his commitment to ensure water supply to the Old City Area. This development is expected to benefit thousands of residents, easing water-related challenges in the region.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the inauguration ceremony, held in UC-6, Saddar Town, was attended by significant figures including Lyari Town Chairman Khalil Hot and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Chief Operating Officer Asadullah Khan. Karamullah Waqasi, spokesperson for the Mayor and Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, highlighted the administration’s efforts in translating electoral trust into tangible development initiatives across the city.

Under Mayor Wahab’s leadership, the focus is on addressing civic issues such as water supply, road construction, and sewerage improvements. Waqasi pointed out that the city’s water challenges were less about shortages and more about planning and management. The PPP has implemented strategic measures to ensure water provision throughout Karachi.

The new water pumping station is set to serve various neighborhoods including Ranchore Line, Kharadar, and Mithadar, marking a significant stride in reducing water scarcity. The initiative is part of broader development projects under Mayor Wahab, encompassing road and park rehabilitation, street lighting, and the preservation of historical sites, reflecting the PPP’s commitment to modernizing Karachi.

Waqasi emphasized the ongoing efforts directed by Mayor Wahab to enhance the water distribution system, through infrastructure upgrades and equitable water distribution.
