Islamabad: The nation is commemorating its 80th Independence Day with events that highlight national unity and cultural heritage. Celebrations are taking place across the country, emphasizing the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and the aspiration to develop the nation into an Islamic welfare state.
According to Radio Pakistan, today’s festivities began with a thirty-one gun salute in the Federal Capital and a twenty-one gun salute at provincial headquarters. Special prayers for peace and prosperity are being held in mosques nationwide. Flag hoisting ceremonies are occurring at various levels of government, and buildings are adorned with national flags and lights.
A diverse array of programs, including seminars, exhibitions, and cultural events, are organized to honor the day. Radio Pakistan is focusing on the contributions of Pakistan Movement heroes in its special broadcasts. In Karachi, a change of guards ceremony took place at the Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, further marking the day’s significance.
