Pakistan and Kuwait Discuss Energy Cooperation Amid Regional Challenges

Islamabad: Pakistan and Kuwait are exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on refining and strategic storage facilities. This development follows a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nassar Abdulrahman Almutairi, amid regional challenges impacting fuel supply routes.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting underscored Kuwait’s support in facilitating the recent delivery of 45,000 tons of diesel and 10,000 tons of jet fuel to Pakistan. The shipment was expedited through special measures after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring timely fuel supply to Pakistan. Discussions also included the potential establishment of Kuwaiti strategic storage facilities in Pakistan.

Ambassador Almutairi commended Pakistan’s peace efforts and encouraged continued contributions to regional stability. Minister Malik reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation in addressing mutual challenges in the energy sector.
