South Punjab to See Improved Connectivity as Multan-Lodhran Road Project Gets Green Light

Multan: In a significant development for South Punjab, the dualization of the Multan-Lodhran Road has been approved, with funds released to initiate construction. This progress stems from efforts by Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, marking a move toward enhanced infrastructure in the region.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the project received approval from Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, following a request from Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. Financed through the Road Maintenance Account Fund, the 62-kilometer road project is set to cost Rs. 4.6 billion, with construction expected to begin within a month and completion targeted within a year.

The project includes the elevation of 44.8 kilometers of the existing road to ensure uniformity and improve road safety. The Multan-Lodhran Road has long been in poor condition, causing inconvenience to local commuters and residents. This development aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow, reduce travel times, and enhance road safety.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed satisfaction with the project’s approval, describing it as fulfilling a commitment to the people of Multan and Lodhran. He emphasized the project’s role in addressing the longstanding issues faced by South Punjab’s residents through sustainable development initiatives and reiterated his dedication to promoting infrastructure development across the region.
