ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has firmly dismissed a CBS News report alleging the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase, categorizing the report as misleading and sensationalized. According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that such speculative narratives appear to undermine ongoing efforts for regional stability and peace.
The spokesperson explained that following a ceasefire, a number of aircraft from Iran and the United States arrived in Pakistan to facilitate the movement of diplomatic personnel, security teams, and administrative staff involved in the talks process. Some of these aircraft and support personnel remained temporarily in Pakistan in anticipation of further rounds of engagement.
Tahir Andrabi clarified that the Iranian aircraft currently stationed in Pakistan arrived during the ceasefire period and are not connected to any military contingency or preservation arrangement. He emphasized that assertions suggesting otherwise are speculative and detached from factual context.
Furthermore, Andrabi highlighted Pakistan’s role as an impartial facilitator in support of dialogue and de-escalation efforts. In line with this role, Pakistan has provided routine logistical and administrative support where needed while maintaining transparency and communication with all relevant parties.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at promoting dialogue, reducing tensions, and advancing regional and global peace, stability, and security.
