Islamabad: Pakistan and China have enhanced their industrial collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Saigol Group and China’s Juhang Energy Technology Group. The agreement aims to establish a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility in Pakistan, focusing on the local production of lithium-ion batteries, which is seen as a critical component in the country’s advancement in manufacturing and clean energy.

According to Radio Pakistan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized the importance of this partnership during the signing ceremony. He noted that the agreement not only highlights the growing economic relations between Pakistan and China but also demonstrates strong investor confidence in Pakistan’s industrial prospects. Khan stated that local production of lithium-ion batteries would reduce reliance on imports, create job opportunities, and support industrial self-sufficiency, especially as Pakistan seeks to increase its use of solar energy and other renewable sources that require advanced storage systems.

Khan described battery manufacturing as a pivotal industry of the future and indicated that Pakistan is strategically positioning itself to capitalize on global technological advancements through such partnerships and innovation. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating investors and promoting industrial growth as part of its long-term economic plan.
