RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo have taken a significant step toward bolstering their defense ties by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing bilateral defense and security cooperation. A high-level defense delegation from Congo, led by Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules, Chief of Defense of the Armed Forces of Congo, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Rawalpindi to finalize the agreement.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi included discussions on mutual interests, the regional security environment, and potential avenues for increased defense collaboration. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the longstanding relations between their nations and agreed on the importance of broadening their defense partnership.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Jules was received with a Guard of Honour by a tri-services contingent and held meetings with other top military officials, including Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. He commended the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, highlighting their role in maintaining regional peace and stability and acknowledging efforts in indigenization and self-reliance.
