Islamabad Traffic Police Cracks Down on Illegal Rickshaw Entries

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has initiated a crackdown on rickshaw drivers unlawfully entering the capital, particularly targeting rural areas. According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation is part of efforts to maintain smooth traffic flow, mitigate road accidents, and uphold road safety regulations, following directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

Several enforcement teams have been established to target illegal rickshaw entries. So far, more than 400 rickshaws have been issued challan tickets, and 150 have been impounded. Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan has instructed zonal DSPs to conduct daily operations, with checkpoints set up on major roads including the Expressway, Murree Road, and Seventh Avenue.

Night-shift officers are also enforcing legal measures against violators. Meanwhile, the Education Wing is engaging in road-safety awareness activities, and ITP Radio FM 92.4 is broadcasting updates to keep citizens informed about the crackdown.
