Islamabad: Pakistan marked the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism by acknowledging the heavy sacrifices made both in human lives and economic terms. According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan has lost over 90,000 citizens and incurred financial losses exceeding $150 billion due to terrorism. The statement highlighted the evolving nature of terrorism, which now includes the use of emerging technologies and cyberspace, posing new challenges. The year 2025 was noted as particularly deadly, with violence reportedly orchestrated from sanctuaries across the border.
Despite these adversities, Pakistan reiterated its resolve to continue fighting terrorism. The statement also expressed solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, drawing attention to their struggles under state repression and violation of fundamental rights. The Ministry urged the international community to support terrorism victims worldwide and promote dialogue to prevent extremism.
