PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Support for Small Farmers to Boost Productivity


LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need to support small and medium-scale farmers to enhance per-acre productivity. He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting in Lahore focused on agricultural reforms and the implementation of government measures for sectoral development.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of certified companies ensuring the provision of quality seeds to farmers. He instructed the preparation of a comprehensive national system for estimating crop production through consultation with all stakeholders.



Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif called for the activation of agricultural research institutions to align research activities with international standards, thereby promoting the development of the agriculture sector. The Prime Minister emphasized leveraging the experience of students who returned from agricultural training in China last year and underscored the need for merit and transparency in selecting students for similar training this year.



The meeting also covered initiatives aimed at promoting organic agriculture and the use of artificial intelligence for crop monitoring and pest and plant identification.
