Pakistan and Malaysia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on cooperation in various security and law enforcement areas. The decision was reached during delegation-level talks held in Islamabad, led by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Malaysia’s Interior Minister Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions centered on strengthening collaboration in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, illegal immigration, and cybercrime prevention. Both sides agreed to establish a joint working group to foster relations between their respective Interior Ministries. Plans were also made for a high-level Pakistani delegation to visit Malaysia soon.

The dialogue included discussions on intelligence sharing to combat terrorism and drug trafficking, with a joint strategy to enhance efforts against these challenges. Cooperation between the National Police Academy and the Royal Malaysian Police College was also agreed upon, alongside initiatives to promote tourism and simplify visa processes.

Interior Minister Naqvi expressed Pakistan’s interest in learning from Malaysia’s experience in the Coast Guard sector, emphasizing the potential for increased tourism and legal work opportunities for Pakistanis in Malaysia. A one-on-one meeting between the two interior ministers preceded the delegation-level talks, further solidifying their commitment to strengthening ties.
