Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, inaugurated the National Cyber Security Operations Centre (NCSOC) at the National CERT, marking an important advancement in Pakistan’s efforts to enhance its cyber resilience, protect critical infrastructure, and safeguard citizens’ data.

According to Press Information Department, the Minister, during her address, acknowledged the contributions of past and present leaders of Pakistan and extended congratulations to the nation on Independence Day. She emphasized that the Centre signifies a new aspect of freedom and sovereignty in the digital realm. As Pakistan continues to grow in digital government, e-governance, and citizen-centric services, cybersecurity is essential to digital transformation. The NCSOC is equipped to provide advanced capabilities for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats in real time.

Minister Khawaja also noted the achievements of Marka-e-Haq, stating that Pakistan’s cyber defense capabilities have been actively engaged during challenging threat environments. The efforts include monitoring malicious activities, protecting critical information infrastructure, and ensuring the continuity of essential digital services. She highlighted that national security now encompasses both physical and digital domains. Dr. Haider Abbas, DG National CERT, further emphasized Pakistan’s progress in cybersecurity, pointing to its Tier-1 status in the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 and the Pakistan Information Security Framework 2026.

The inauguration of the NCSOC represents a significant step in Pakistan’s path toward a secure and resilient digital ecosystem, ensuring that the nation’s digital freedom is safeguarded alongside its national independence.
