Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab marked Independence Day with a visit to the mausoleum of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. During his visit, he laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the nation’s security and prosperity.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the significance of Independence Day as a moment to honor the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s creation and to renew commitments to the country’s founding principles. He highlighted the recent Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye as a testament to Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and collective security.
Mayor Wahab praised the Pakistan Army’s role in national defense and lauded the diplomatic efforts of leaders like Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for effectively representing Pakistan on international platforms. He stressed the importance of resolving regional disputes through dialogue and international law, while also reaffirming his commitment to improving municipal services in Karachi.
