Malaysian Home Minister Visits Islamabad, Strengthens Bilateral Ties


Islamabad: H.E. Dato’ Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and regional cooperation.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting took place at the Prime Minister House, where Prime Minister Sharif extended warm wishes to Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and expressed hope for his swift recovery. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to deepening ties in various fields, including security, law enforcement, trade, and investment.



Discussions also covered the regional situation, with Prime Minister Sharif expressing appreciation for Malaysia’s support of Pakistan’s peace initiatives. The Malaysian Home Minister conveyed greetings from his Prime Minister and reiterated Malaysia’s interest in strengthening its relationship with Pakistan.



A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, witnessed by both leaders and signed by the Malaysian Home Minister and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.
