ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Malaysia, focusing on areas such as security, law enforcement, trade, and investment. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting with Malaysia’s Minister for Home Affairs, Dato’ Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who visited Islamabad on an official trip.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions included the regional situation, with Prime Minister Sharif expressing appreciation for Malaysia’s support of Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace. The Malaysian Home Minister conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim and expressed Malaysia’s enthusiasm to enhance its robust ties with Pakistan.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif extended warm wishes to the Malaysian Prime Minister, inquiring about his health and wishing him a swift recovery. A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of an Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, witnessed by Prime Minister Sharif. This agreement was signed by the Malaysian Home Minister and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
The gathering also included high-ranking officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, underscoring the importance of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia.
