Islamabad: The Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, concluded a two-day official visit to Pakistan, marking the first such trip since the formation of the new Syrian Government. Invited by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the visit aimed to reaffirm and enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Shaibani engaged in bilateral consultations with his Pakistani counterpart, where both parties emphasized the enduring ties between Pakistan and Syria. They agreed on the importance of regular institutional engagement and committed to the early convening of established institutional mechanisms. The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strengthening people-to-people contacts.
During his visit, the Syrian Foreign Minister met with several key Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, the Minister for Commerce, and the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces. These meetings aimed to explore opportunities for enhancing the friendship between the two countries and developing a framework for future cooperation.
