Finance Minister Engages Silk Road Fund, Explores Investment Opportunities


Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, engaged in discussions with a high-level delegation from the Silk Road Fund (SRF) led by Chairperson Zhu Jun, focusing on investment opportunities and economic cooperation with Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting aimed to explore avenues for economic and investment collaboration. Senator Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s economic progress, emphasizing improvements in fiscal discipline, external account stability, foreign exchange reserves, and the macroeconomic outlook. He highlighted efforts to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, broaden the tax base, and improve tax administration through digitalization.



The discussions covered potential investments in Pakistan’s privatization program and sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing. The Finance Minister stressed the need for greater participation from both domestic and international investors. The SRF delegation expressed interest in further engagement, noting the strength and potential of Pakistan’s private sector and its ongoing power sector reforms.



The meeting included senior officials from the Finance Division, Economic Affairs Division, and Special Investment Facilitation Council, alongside SRF representatives.
