KMC Announces Construction of Nishtar Road-Garden Flyover to Alleviate Karachi Traffic

Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced plans to construct a flyover at the Nishtar Road-Garden intersection, aimed at enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion in Karachi. The project will link the Lyari Expressway with Garden Road and Nishtar Road, creating a streamlined traffic corridor for the city’s residents and commuters.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the decision was made during a meeting of the KMC Engineering Department, chaired by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The Mayor urged the relevant departments to accelerate the technical and administrative procedures to initiate the tendering process promptly.

The flyover, with an estimated cost of Rs1 billion, is intended to improve traffic flow at a crucial intersection that connects the Garden area with Nishtar Road, Saddar, and the Old City. The completion of the project is targeted within a year, encompassing all procedural and construction phases.

Mayor Wahab emphasized that the flyover is part of a larger strategy to enhance connectivity and accessibility throughout Karachi. He highlighted the need for continuous infrastructure investment to meet the demands of the city’s growing population. The project is seen as a step towards reducing pressure on existing routes and providing better access to commercial and residential areas.

The initiative reflects the Sindh Government’s commitment to improving municipal infrastructure under the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Mayor Wahab reiterated the administration’s dedication to equitable development across Karachi, aiming to bridge gaps between neighborhoods and improve the daily lives of citizens.

Municipal Commissioner KMC Abrar Jaffer informed the Mayor that the tendering process had begun, with further procedural steps being expedited. The Nishtar Road-Garden flyover is expected to enhance Karachi’s traffic infrastructure, contributing to a more efficient and congestion-free urban mobility network.
