Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the importance of empowering the youth and ensuring their active involvement in urban development during a meeting with the Pakistan Youth Parliament delegation. The meeting, which coincided with International Youth Day, focused on youth empowerment and urban development proposals.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the delegation, led by Suman, President of the Sindh Cabinet, presented several initiatives to enhance youth participation in civic affairs and environmental conservation. Proposals included the establishment of co-working spaces and skill-based training programs designed to provide professional development opportunities for the city’s youth. These centers could also generate revenue for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation while fostering a productive environment for young people.

The delegation also addressed environmental concerns, suggesting initiatives for biodiversity and mangrove conservation. They offered manpower through youth volunteers for activities such as plantation and maintenance of green spaces. Additionally, the establishment of a 100-member Youth Advisory Council was proposed to bridge communication between the youth and municipal authorities.

Mayor Wahab expressed appreciation for the delegation’s proposals, indicating a willingness to pursue these ideas through further collaboration. The meeting concluded with the delegation expressing gratitude for the opportunity to discuss their ideas directly with city leadership.
