Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Marks International Children’s Day with Emphasis on Child Rights

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The International Children’s Day event in Peshawar was attended by the Caretaker Provincial Minister for Prisons, Relief and Social Welfare, Justice Retired Irshad Qaiser. Focusing on the theme “Every Child, Every Right,” the event highlighted the fundamental rights of children, including access to quality food, a healthy environment, education, training, and protection.

According to the Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Justice Retired Irshad Qaiser addressed the gathering, emphasizing the constitutional guarantees of children’s rights in Pakistan, particularly the provision of free and compulsory education. He noted that such events demonstrate not only a commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child but also showcase the dedication of both the Government of Pakistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission to child rights and protection, as outlined in the Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010.

Justice Qaiser stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership in promoting the welfare and rights of children. He remarked that International Children’s Day serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to create a society where every child has the opportunity to thrive, learn, and realize their potential. This responsibility extends to the welfare, protection, and development of all children, including those with special needs.

The event in Peshawar was a significant occasion to reaffirm the commitment to child welfare and rights, aligning with international standards and national policies for child protection and development.
