Karachi Mayor Inaugurates Expansion Project at Kidney Institute

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the expansion project of the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases, emphasizing the need for increased accessibility to dialysis facilities across the city. The event was attended by members of the City Council, the administration of the institute, doctors, paramedical staff, and other stakeholders.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab highlighted the importance of establishing satellite dialysis centers in densely populated areas of Karachi. He proposed identifying three to four key locations for these centers in the initial phase, with suggestions for potential sites in the Banaras, Landhi, and Malir areas. The Mayor assured that if space is needed in KMC hospitals for these centers, a formal proposal should be submitted to receive full cooperation and space provision from KMC.

Mayor Wahab underscored the significance of distributing healthcare facilities across various locations to enhance accessibility for kidney patients and minimize the need for long-distance travel. He emphasized that serving kidney patients is a crucial humanitarian endeavor and pledged support to organizations and individuals involved in this field.

He called for inviting volunteers working with the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases to KMC for acknowledgement and encouragement. The Mayor reaffirmed KMC’s commitment to this welfare initiative and stressed the importance of collaboration in serving the city’s residents. He also expressed gratitude to the institute’s administration and organizers for their public service efforts.
