ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have apprehended 41 individuals suspected of various criminal activities as part of an ongoing crackdown on crime in the capital. The operation resulted in the recovery of drugs and a cache of weapons, authorities announced.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, 25 individuals were detained on charges related to different criminal activities. During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated 744 grams of methamphetamine, 550 grams of hashish, two bottles of liquor, a rifle, three Kalashnikovs, and 16 pistols with ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects, and investigations are currently underway.
In a parallel effort, police teams conducted a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and fugitives, leading to the arrest of an additional 16 individuals. This initiative aligns with directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aimed at enhancing security and maintaining peace in the federal capital.
SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasized the police force’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents. Under the “No to Weapons” campaign, the police are intensifying actions against illegal arms, public displays of weapons, and aerial firing. The campaign also focuses on apprehending offenders with criminal histories and delivering prompt justice to citizens.
Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to local police stations or the emergency helpline “Pukar-15,” highlighting the importance of community cooperation in making the city crime-free.
