ISLAMABAD: In a recent enforcement drive, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has penalized over 44,000 vehicles and motorcycles for traffic violations, following directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The comprehensive campaign aims to enhance the traffic system, improve travel facilities, and enforce traffic laws across the federal capital.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the enforcement campaign in August led to legal action against 44,078 vehicles, including motorcyclists, freight vehicles, and public transport vehicles. Among these, 14,725 motorcyclists and 29,353 vehicles faced penalties for traffic law violations. Additionally, 2,662 motorcycles and 3,840 vehicles were impounded for serious violations, with 544 cases registered.
The ITP’s Traffic Education Wing has also been active in raising public awareness about traffic laws through 76 workshops conducted at various public venues and educational institutions, reaching 72,737 citizens and students. Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan emphasized the importance of compliance with traffic laws to protect lives and ensure safe travel. She urged citizens to adhere to speed limits, use helmets, and follow lane discipline.
Chief Traffic Officer Khan stated that the objective is to provide a safe and organized traffic system without causing unnecessary inconvenience. She highlighted that violations not only risk lives but also disrupt traffic flow, and emphasized ongoing efforts in both enforcement and public education to foster voluntary compliance with traffic laws.
In her remarks, she reaffirmed ITP’s commitment to utilizing all resources to prevent accidents, ensure smooth traffic flow, and uniformly enforce laws, underscoring the need for cooperation between citizens and the Traffic Police for a safe and efficient traffic system in Islamabad.
