IGP Islamabad Implements Security Measures for 79th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has ordered an extensive security plan for the upcoming 79th Independence Day, focusing on key areas such as security arrangements, traffic management, and public facilitation. The directive was issued during a command conference at the Central Police Office in Islamabad, attended by senior police officials.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the conference aimed to ensure comprehensive preparations for the anticipated movement of citizens toward recreational areas and public gatherings. The IGP instructed the deployment of additional police personnel at strategic locations and emphasized heightened surveillance at entry and exit points across the city.

IGP Rizvi underscored the importance of the “No to Weapon” campaign, directing officers to enforce laws against illegal weapons, display of weapons, and aerial firing. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators without exception.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen Safe City monitoring, with enhanced surveillance on major roads and sensitive locations. IGP Rizvi called for effective use of the Hotel Eye software to monitor hotel registrations and maintain vigilance against suspicious activities.

To manage traffic flow on Independence Day, additional traffic police will be stationed at key intersections and event venues. The IGP directed the Traffic Police to implement efficient traffic management strategies, including alternative routes and adequate parking, to facilitate the movement of citizens.

IGP Rizvi stressed the necessity of coordination among various units, including Security, Traffic, Safe City, and others, to ensure a prompt and coordinated response to any incidents. He urged police officials to engage with the public professionally and courteously.

Finally, IGP Rizvi declared that any negligence in security or public facilitation would not be tolerated, affirming the police force’s readiness to safeguard citizens and maintain order during the Independence Day celebrations.
