Chairman Senate of Pakistan Calls for Enhanced Pakistan-Malaysia Relations During Meeting with Malaysian Interior Minister


Islamabad: In a meeting at Parliament House, the Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, welcomed the Malaysian Interior Minister, H.E. Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, and emphasized the importance of strengthening the historical ties between the two countries. The meeting focused on areas such as trade, investment, legal cooperation, and defense, highlighting the potential for increased collaboration.



According to Press Information Department, the Chairman underscored the deep-rooted connections between Pakistan and Malaysia, which are based on shared religious and cultural values. He reflected on his past engagements with Malaysia in different roles, including during his recent visit as Chairman Senate, where he participated in the Global Muslim Business Forum. During the discussions, he expressed Pakistan’s desire for further high-level visits and engagements, including welcoming the Malaysian King and Queen to Pakistan.



The meeting highlighted the contribution of the Pakistani community in Malaysia and the role of Pakistani students in strengthening bilateral ties. Chairman Senate also emphasized the need for translating strong political relations into economic partnerships, inviting Malaysian investors to explore opportunities through Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council. The potential for collaboration in sectors such as semiconductors and defense was also discussed, with both parties expressing readiness to enhance cooperation.



The Malaysian Interior Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s hospitality and expressed a commitment to furthering mutual interests. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deepen Pakistan-Malaysia relations across various domains, including parliamentary and economic cooperation. The session was attended by key political figures from Pakistan, ensuring a broad representation of interests and perspectives.
