Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Counter Terrorism Amid Rising Challenges

Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its steadfast commitment to combating terrorism in all its manifestations, as stated in a press release issued by the Foreign Office on the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. According to Radio Pakistan, the statement highlighted the significant sacrifices made by the nation, with over 90,000 Pakistani lives lost and economic damages exceeding $150 billion in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

The statement from the Foreign Office emphasized the evolving nature of terrorism, noting that terrorists are increasingly exploiting emerging technologies and cyberspace to launch sophisticated attacks. It also pointed out that Pakistan is a target of disinformation and misinformation campaigns, along with threats such as hydro-terrorism and extraterritorial assassination.

The Foreign Office remarked on the severity of the year 2025, describing it as one of the deadliest years for Pakistan in over a decade. The violence, it noted, is often orchestrated from sanctuaries across the border with support from hostile elements in neighboring countries. Despite these challenges, Pakistan expressed its unwavering resolve to defeat terrorism.

Solidarity was also expressed with the Kashmiri people, who continue to endure systematic repression, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detentions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The statement also voiced concern for the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people, particularly the vulnerable, despite international ceasefire efforts and diplomatic initiatives.

The Foreign Office underscored that unresolved conflicts, foreign occupation, and the denial of self-determination rights could be exploited by extremists, calling for urgent resolutions to such issues. Pakistan further urged the international community to support victims and survivors of terrorism without bias and to enhance international cooperation to foster a peaceful future for coming generations.
