APHC Raises Alarm Over Conditions of Detained Hurriyat Leaders in Indian Custody

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns regarding the treatment of detained Hurriyat leaders, activists, and youth in various prisons across India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Manhas detailed the harsh conditions faced by these detainees, including prolonged detention on dubious grounds, lack of essential medical care, and basic amenities, as well as their involvement in fabricated legal cases without court appearances. Manhas specifically mentioned prominent figures such as APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt and others who have been subjected to these conditions.

The APHC has condemned the Modi government’s employment of probe agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) as tools of intimidation against the Kashmiri population, declaring such measures ultimately futile. In response to these human rights abuses, the APHC is urging international bodies like the United Nations and the International Court of Justice to intervene and inspect the conditions of those detained.

Furthermore, the statement commemorated the 16th anniversary of the martyrdom of Kashmiri leader Shaheed Shaikh Abdul Aziz, celebrating his commitment to the Kashmiri cause. The APHC reiterates that the sacrifices of these leaders and activists will not be forgotten.
