Islamabad, In a significant development for energy cooperation, US Ambassador Donald Blome engaged in fruitful discussions with Pakistan’s Power Division delegation, headed by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s dedication to embracing clean energy solutions and sought US support for accessing the Green Climate Fund to bolster its environmental resilience.
According to Press Information Department, the dialogue centered on Pakistan’s clean energy ambitions and the potential for American investment in the sector, reflecting a mutual interest in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. Ambassador Blome conveyed the readiness of US companies and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to invest in Pakistan’s renewable energy projects, aligning with the nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 7 objectives to enhance its renewable energy portfolio in the coming years.
Minister Leghari also introduced the “Fan Replacement Program,” an upcoming initiative aimed at reducing energy consumption across Pakistan. He sought the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in implementing this and other energy conservation measures, illustrating a proactive approach to energy efficiency.
Furthermore, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of the forthcoming Economic Dialogue in the USA, advocating for strong participation from Pakistan to further cement the collaborative ties between the two nations in addressing energy and economic challenges.
