Pakistan and China Forge New Cooperation Agreements in Beijing

BEIJING: Pakistan and China have signed an array of agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and cooperation documents in a move to bolster bilateral relations across various sectors. The signing ceremony, held in Beijing, was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

According to Radio Pakistan, the newly signed agreements aim to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, climate change, education, media, and people-to-people exchanges. Among the documents signed were the Executive Program on Educational Cooperation and Exchanges and protocols concerning the inspection, quarantine, and sanitary requirements for dried fruits, nuts, and maize.

The MoUs include initiatives on strengthening development cooperation in agriculture, economic development, environmental and climate change cooperation, and collaboration between the Foreign Service Academy and China Foreign Affairs University. Additional documents involve a letter of exchange on animal vaccines and MoUs between the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and Pakistan National School of Public Policy.

Agreements were also made between the Pakistan Science Foundation and the China Association of Science and Technology, and between media organizations such as Xinhua News Agency and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation. Furthermore, a sister-province relationship was established between Zhejiang Province and Punjab Province.

Prime Minister Sharif remarked that these agreements signify the expanding scope of Pakistan-China cooperation and are expected to enhance the welfare and prosperity of both nations.
