Survey Reveals Majority of Pakistani Parents Favor Expensive Schools for Better Education

ISLAMABAD: A recent survey by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that 75% of Pakistani parents believe expensive schools offer superior education. The survey highlights significant generational, urban, and educational divides in these perceptions.

According to Gilani Research Foundation, the survey forms part of Gallup Pakistan’s series on ‘Understanding the School Landscape in Pakistan.’ Conducted between March 18 and March 31, 2026, the study surveyed 1,415 married individuals across Pakistan’s urban and rural areas. The findings illustrate a widespread belief among parents that higher fees correlate with better educational quality, with 41% completely agreeing and 34% somewhat agreeing. Conversely, 13% somewhat disagreed, and 10% completely disagreed with this notion.

The data suggests that older parents, urban residents, and those with higher educational qualifications are more likely to associate higher school costs with better education, with 84% of older parents, 81% of urban parents, and 80% of FA+ educated parents expressing agreement. Despite the prevailing belief, nearly a quarter of parents remain skeptical about the correlation between school expenses and education quality. The survey’s margin of error is estimated at ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level, using telephonic surveys for data collection.
