South Sudan Delegation Meets Young Parliamentarians in Islamabad to Enhance Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: A high-level parliamentary delegation from South Sudan’s Transitional Legislative Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Rt. Mr. Korneli Kon Ngu Akuck, met with the leadership of Pakistan’s Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) on January 22, 2025. The meeting aimed to foster parliamentary diplomacy and strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the President of YPF, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA, welcomed the South Sudanese delegation. She emphasized the importance of youth engagement in governance and international collaboration, highlighting the potential for transformative change given the demographic composition of South Sudan.

Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani, MNA, presented the objectives and operational framework of the Young Parliamentarians Forum, showcasing initiatives such as capacity-building seminars and conferences for young parliamentarians in Pakistan.

MNA Mr. Muhammad Mobeen Arif stressed the importance of collaborative programs focused on youth empowerment through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the potential for cultural and parliamentary exchange programs between Pakistan and South Sudan.

The meeting explored various avenues for cooperation, including the establishment of a youth exchange program, collaborative sports activities, and joint cultural initiatives. Discussions also covered forums on governance, sustainability, and peacebuilding.

The Young Parliamentarians Forum reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with South Sudan and other international counterparts. The session concluded with a shared vision to enhance parliamentary ties and empower youth leadership in both nations.
